About
Kaz Kondo is a Japanese photographer based in Kanagawa, Japan, whose work explores the relationship between words, images, and interpretation. Since 2015, he has used an iPhone to photograph everyday urban environments in and around Tokyo, focusing on words and texts found on clothing and personal objects. By collecting and pairing these visual fragments, he creates diptychs that invite viewers to make their own connections and interpretations. His ongoing Subtext project includes The Subconscious Conversation of Text (2024–2025), which was featured at the 2025 Head On Photo Festival in Sydney, as well as The Conversation Continues (2026) and The Second Reading (2026).
